Cagrilintide

Cagrilintide is a modified analogue of amylin, a hormone co-secreted with insulin that contributes to satiety signalling.

It acts on amylin and calcitonin receptors in the hindbrain, slowing gastric emptying and reducing meal size.

Considered in weight management where incretin therapy alone has not produced the response expected, and where muscle mass can be protected.

• Relevant baseline testing, and whether an interval draw is needed first.
• Monitoring cadence, expected review date and the criteria for stopping.
• Whether a non-pharmacologic route addresses the same goal first.
